Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, Telangana, is the governing body for conducting the counseling process within Telangana. Within the state, 15% of All India Quota counseling is conducted by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), whereas the rest 85% is conducted by the state governing body KNRUHS. After the declaration of NEET score, the governing body conducts the counseling for the eligible students.
There are around 3200 MBBS seats and 1600 BDS seats in the state of Telangana. The counseling is conducted in the medical colleges on the basis of the scores secured in NEET UG examination. There are two rounds of counseling in the state of Telangana. After two rounds of counseling, the governing body conducts a mop up round to fill up the vacant seats of the colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
- Only the citizens of India or Person of Indian Origin or Overseas Citizen of India card holder are eligible for the counseling procedure.
- 17 years is the minimum age of the candidates to take the admission in the medical colleges in Telangana.
- Candidate must be a local/non-local resident of Telangana State. 85% state quota seats in Telangana state are further divided as 85% for the local candidates and 15% open seats for both local and non-local candidates.
- For attaining the local status, candidates must match the following criteria:-
- Candidates who has studied or resided in a local area for a period of about 4 years or more, wherein the last year should have been in taking the qualifying examination.
- Candidate who has studied or resided in two or more local areas for about seven years, wherein the last year should have been in taking the qualifying examination, then the area where he/she has stayed maximum number of years will be considered.
- Candidate who has studied/resided in two areas for equal number of years out of seven consecutive years then in which area he/she had stayed last will be considered.
- Non-local candidate: Candidate who has been a resident of Telengana state for a period of 10 years will be regarded as a non-local.
- Apart from this the candidates should pass class 12 examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English from a recognized board of education. To be eligible for the examination, the unreserved category candidate must secure 50% marks while that of PH category candidates must have secured 40%. And 40% for reserved category including BC/SC/ST. Candidates should also secure the minimum qualifying percentile in the NEET UG Exam as per the qualifying criteria mentioned in the table below.

Reservation Policy
- In Government or Government supported Medical or Dental colleges, the admission will be taken under two segregates- 15% All India Quota Seats and 85% State Quota Seats. DGHS will conduct the counseling process of 15% All India Quota seats while KNRUHS, the state governing body will conduct the counseling for the rest 85% of the seats on the basis of reservation.
- In Private medical or dental colleges, the seats will be divided homogenously into 50% for State Quota and 50% for Management quota. Within this 50% state quota seats, the admissions will be done following the reservation policy of the state.
Application Form
The candidates who want to get into MBBS and BDS courses from government and private colleges in Telangana need to fill the NEET counseling form Telangana. You need to fill the counseling application form on the official website of the KNRUHS Telangana.
Step 1: Visit the official KNRUHS Telangana website https://tsmedadm.tsche.in
Step 2: Then go to the login or register page.
Step 3: If you register for the first time, you need to go to “Candidate Registration.” While completing the registration, you need to enter your NEET roll number, rank, date of birth, and mobile number. Once you have successfully registered, then you will receive a registration number and a security pin.
Step 4: If you have already registered, you need to do “candidate login.” You must enter your NEET 2021 roll number, the generated registration number, and the security PIN.
Step 5: Once you have logged in, you must enter your academic details like class 10 marks, 12 marks, NEET 2021 marks and ranks, your address for verification.
Step 6: After filling in all the details, go to “Save and Pay” and proceed to NEET 2021 counseling application fees payment.
Step 7: Make the payment by choosing your choice of online payment from the options mentioned on the screen.
Step 8: The filled application form will come on the screen. You need to download and save it for future use.

NEET Merit List: Telangana
KNRUHS will publish the merit list of the qualified candidates. The candidates who will register online for the counseling process are the only eligible one for 85% state quota counseling. As per the secured ranks, the governing body will conduct the counseling process of the candidates. After the declaration of NEET UG merit list, the candidates will be eligible to appear for the state quota seats and private seats in Telangana will be done through counseling sessions in which registered candidates will be called as per their ranks in the state merit list of Telangana. The state quota merit list will be available online it also includes the candidate’s name, father’s name, category, NEET roll number, NEET marks and State merit rank.
Steps to download NEET merit list
- The candidates have to visit the official website of KNRUHS to check their names in the merit list.
- The updated merit list will be shown to the candidates after entering name or NEET roll number.
- The State Rank as derived from NEET scores is also mentioned in the merit list.
- The candidate has to take a print out of the merit list
After the merit list is being declared, the candidates whose name has successfully declared are then called in for the counseling process. KNRUHS publishes the allotment result in online platform of its official website.
Tie-Breaking Criteria:
If two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the NEET exam, various parameters are being used for breaking the tie which includes:-
- To break the tie, candidate with higher marks in Biology will be given preference
- If still the tie exist, candidate with higher marks in Chemistry will be given preference
- If tie persist, candidates with least number of negative marking will be given preference
- And finally, candidates who are older in age will be given a higher rank

NEET counseling
The admissions to MBBS/BDS are made through the MCC counseling process based on the NEET UG score. Candidates who qualify for the NEET exam can also apply for NEET admission to medical colleges. The NEET-UG counseling process is based on the All India Quota, State Quota, and Deemed Universities.
Process of NEET counseling in Telangana
Online Registration: The interested candidates have to fill up the online application form and pay the non-refundable counseling fee, to take part in the counseling process to be conducted on the basis of candidate’s names in the merit list. While filling up the Online Registration Form, the candidates will fill in the required details regarding their personal and educational information. Incomplete forms submitted will be summarily rejected. Candidates will receive registration number on successful completion of the registration process.
Counseling Fee (All Categories)- INR 5000/-
Merit List declaration: The list of the eligible candidates selected for the first round of counseling including common merit lists, including names of registered candidates will be displayed online in the official website of KNRUHS.
Verification of Certificates/Documents: in the next step, the counseling authority will verify every document of the eligible candidate. The counseling authority schedules date and time for the organizing of the document verification sessions. .
Selection of College: Complete list of medical and dental colleges in Telangana will be accessible to the candidates and they will have to pick the college/institutions as per their wish to join. They can make their selection of colleges/courses according to the order of preference which they can avail till those are exhausted. Candidates must lock their choices or else, the choices will be locked automatically. Candidates will have to fill in fresh choices for the subsequent round of counseling according to the seats available as the choices for the previous will not be considered.
Reporting at the College:- After seats have been allotted to candidates in a particular round, they have to report within stipulated time and date, failing which the seat will be cancelled without any notice. Candidates will be called or various rounds of counseling based on their state merit rank. Candidates have to pay non-refundable Counseling Fee of INR 5000/- in form of crossed Demand Draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of ‘The Registrar, KNR University of Health Sciences’ payable at Warangal.
Seat Allotment: Three rounds of counseling will be conducted, namely First round and Second round and Mop-up round. KNRUHS official website will release the result of every round of seat allotment. Thereafter admission of the candidates will be based on NEET UG score and choice filling done during the application form fill up.
Admission: Candidates must clear their college fee and university fee at the time of counseling itself. If the candidate fails to pay the fee after choosing the seat, the seat will be automatically cancelled without any notice. No time extension is available for the candidate to clear the fee.

State Medical Cutoffs:
The NEET 2018 ranks and marks secured by the last candidates to secure seats in the Medical Colleges of Telangana are given below based on the data available by State Counseling Authority, to be used for reference purpose only:
Cancellation and Fee Refund:
Candidates have to pay university fee on the day of selection/counseling and obtain the allotment letter. If he/she fails to pay the fee after choosing the seat that will be automatically cancelled without any notice.
Candidates have to pay tuition fee at the time of admission at respective colleges. If he/she fails to pay the fee at the concerned college within stipulated time, the admission will be automatically cancelled.
If after admission it is found that the candidate have submitted false information or sealed irrelevant information, such admission will be deemed cancelled.
In case the candidate after admission to a college wants to withdraw from the course, before commencement of second counseling then he/she must obtain a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the principal of the concerned college which would be submitted to the convenor, committee of admissions for cancellation of seats. Approval from the committee is absolutely necessary to withdraw from the course.
In case the candidate withdraws admission after closure of Admission of Management Quota Seats to a college, then he/she have to forfeit the tuition fee paid for that academic year and to pay the tuition fee for rest of the course, along with the discontinuation fees of INR 3,00,000 to the University.
